Our Treatments

VCC Ayurveda and Panchkarma Research Center is known for bringing the unique practices of Ayurvedic Treatment Methodologies such as Body Slimming Massage, Oil Massage Treatment for almost all the diseases. The patients are laid down on a long wooden tub and are given the treatment of Dhara, Pizhichil and Navarakizhi. These wooden tubs are made of woods that have high medicinal value such as Sandal Wood, Nux Vomica, Lavangam and more.

Pizhichil (Oil bath Massage)

In pizhichil, lukewarm medicated herbal oil is poured all over the body. This treatment is very effective in rheumatic diseases like arthritis, paralysis, spondilitis, hemiplegia nervous weakness and nervous disorders. This treatment is prescribed not only for rheumatic ailments (vatic disorders) but also for many other diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, fits, convulsions etc. It is very effective In asthma and even in tuberculosis in early stages. This is mainly "Snehana" Lubricating treatment. This treatment is also suited for rejuvenation, vigor and vitality and diseases like psoriasis.

Siro dharaSiro dhara

In this process, some herbal oils, medicated milk, medicated butter milk etc., are poured on the forehead in a particular method using a special pot, for about 45 minutes 1 hr a day. This treatment is effective for diseases above the neck, insomnia, impaired memory, spondylitis, paraplegia, nuero -disorders, stress & strain, fatigue and lack of vitality. This treatment also stimulates nerves, reduces stiffness and is proven to be effective for rheumatoid arthritis.

A cylindrical leather cap of about ten inches height and both ends open fixed in position by means of cloth belt two to three inches in width tied around the head and black gram paste used for plugging the holes and filling the gaps. Suitable medicated oil heated to a bearable degree is poured within and allowed to remain for 1 to 1.5 hours, until the oil trickles " down through the nostril. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and the throat, severe headaches and other vatha (rheumatic) -originated diseases.

Patrapothala sveda

Small bags containing herbal leaves are applied to the whole body in boluses with hot medicated oils for 45 minutes per day. This treatment is for osteo-arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, sports injuries etc.

Navarakizhi (Rice Pudding massage)

It is the most rejuvenating treatment in which, the patient anointed with suitable oil all over the body and is massaged with boluses of Navara in seven different postures. Navara is a special variety of rice, which has to be stored for a whole year before use. It is cooked in medicinal decoration with milk in to a pudding, which is made to boluses tied up in muslin cloth. This treatment is useful in all kinds of rheumatism, paralysis, polio congenital deformity of limbs, dislocation of bones and joints etc. Trained therapists do it for about 1 to 1.5 hrs

PanchkarmaPanchakarma is one of the unique therapeutic procedures in Ayurveda advocated for the radical elimination of disease causing factors and to maintain the equilibrium of doshas. As the wastes are eliminated from the body, the person becomes healthy.

It is used in deep-rooted chronic diseases as well as seasonal imbalance of tridoshas, tunes the body, organs, mind, breath, and nerves and purifies the blood.

Literally Pancha means five and Karma means action. The five fold measures include internal purification of the body or Vamana (Emisis), Virechna (Purgation), Vasti (Enema), Nasya (Nasal Insufflation) and Raktha Moksha. It is acknowledged as an excellent method to maintain health and to slow down the aging process.

Know your body type

Physically such people are either very tall or very short, non- muscular, with thin and bony limbs and have a quick gait with short fast steps. Skin is generally thin, darkish and cool. The hair is thin, dark, coarse and either kinky or curly. The face is usually long and angular, often with an underdeveloped chin. The neck is thin and scrawny. Nose is small and narrow. May be long, crooked or asymmetrical also. Eyes tend to be small, narrow or sunken, dark brown or gray in color, with dull luster. The mouth being small, with thin, narrow or tight lips. Teeth are irregular, protruding, or broken, set in receding gums. And while the voice is weak, low or cracked, speech is fast with interruptions.

A moderately well developed physique with mascular limbs and a purposeful, stable gait of medium speed. With a loud, strong voice and precise, convincing speech. The skin is fair, soft, lusterous, warm, and tends to burn easily in the sun – has freckles, many moles, and a tendency to rashes. And the bodies are hot and sweaty. Characterised by fine and soft, either fair or reddish hair that tends to gray soon. Face is heart-shaped, often with a pointed chin. While the neck is proportionate and of average size. A neat, pointed, and average sized nose matches the average sized eyes that are either light blue, light gray or hazel in color, with an intense luster which get red in summer or after bathing. The mouth being medium, with average lips and medium-sized, yellowish teeth.

A thick, broad, well-developed frame and large, long limbs go well with a pleasant, deep and resonant voice with low, slow, rhythmic speech. The skin is usually thick, oily, pale or white and cold. Plentiful, thick, wavy, lusterous and generally brown hair is set on a large, rounded and full face. The neck is solid, with a near tree-trunk quality. A large, rounded nose and large, attractive, blue or light brown in color eyes are found in a mouth that is large with big, full lips. Teeth too are big and white and set in strong gums.

In the earlier times, the rationale of the Yoga postures and breathing exercises was to bring stability and relaxation so practitioners could prepare for the rigors of meditation, sitting still and alert for long periods of time. In modern context also Yoga can play an important role in maintaining a fine balance between work and healthy mind.

Yoga & meditation
  • The most appropriate time for practicing Yoga is in the morning. It is the time when the mind is calm, composed and fresh and the body movements can be performed with considerable ease and vigor.
  • To get started you need to have the urge and confidence in yourself.
  • To practice Yoga you must choose a place, which is calm, quiet, ventilated, dust free, moisture free and distraction free.
  • Before you start Yoga, you must clear your bowels and bladder; clean your nostrils and throat of all mucus. You must also drink a glass of lukewarm water.
  • Wait for a few minutes and then you can start.
  • Like all other workouts you must begin with easy poses, thereafter you can advance to the tough ones. Be methodical and systematic.
  • Remember, to start with your movements should be light and if you feel fatigue in between you must discontinue.
  • Yoga must energize and not cause weariness and depression.
  • You must take breaks in between if a particular step or exercise proves tiring.
  • If you practice Yoga, your diet should be a balanced and you should eat after an interval of 4 hours.
  • The quantity of food should be such that it satisfies your appetite.
  • Over eating and fasting should be avoided. At the same time you must try to avoid stale food.
  • Yoga clothing should be loose and as comfortable as possible. Form-fitting cotton/Lycra pants and shirts are the best.
  • While performing Yoga your breathing should be long and deep. You must remember to keep your mouth close and inhale and exhale only through the nose.
  • You should always keep a Yoga mat made of some comfortable materials. For lying postures use a woolen carpet, and spread a clean sheet over it.
